Hassan Moore, age 26, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 22, in Franklin Square following the incident that took place at the intersection of Monroe Street and the Hempstead Turnpike, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives a male operator, 48 of a NICE Bus picked up Moore and a female at the intersection of Monroe Street and Hempstead Turnpike.
Moore, of Franklin Square, allegedly boarded the bus without wearing a face covering or paying the fare. A verbal dispute ensued between the bus driver and Moore, police said.
Moore and the woman were told to exit the bus. While outside the bus, the argument escalated and Moore swung an unknown object striking the victim on the left hand causing a laceration. Moore and the woman fled northbound on foot, police said.
A short time later, Moore was located and arrested without incident.
During the investigation, it was determined the female was responsible for unrelated criminal mischief that occurred on a previous date.
Shamasia Moore, age 31, of Franklin Square, was arrested.
Hassan Moore was charged with:
- Assault
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Unlawful possession of marijuana
Shamasia Moore was charged with criminal mischief and harassment.
Both are scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, March 23, in Mineola.
